About Us
Before the founding of our country, metalworking and small businesses have been essential in developing a thriving community. Moose River Welding and Fabrication (MRWF) brings both of these to the quaint little community of Swatara, in northern Minnesota lake country off of MN Highway 169 between Aitkin and Grand Rapids. This community once boomed as a railroad logging town. Now you can listen to the barking of sled dogs as the sun sets over the old brick schoolhouse. MRWF’s desire is to serve this community and the surrounding area through mobile welding repairs and custom fabrication with friendly, responsive customer service and a familiar hometown feel.
Paul Schafbuch is the founder and lead welder. He holds an American Welding Society (AWS) Sense certificate in the four major arc welding fields. He also holds a degree in welding and fabrication along with a degree in business management. His creative problem-solving stems from a lifetime of building and fixing everything he could get his hands on, and never backing down from a challenge.
Paul loves northern Minnesota and enjoys all that the woods and lakes has to offer. When he’s not working, you’ll find him exploring trails around the area, volunteering throughout the community, and spending time on the lakes going after the big one that got away.
